January 2009 - Two popular dancers from the American television series, "Dancing with the Stars" have become engaged to be married. Mr Maksim Chmerkovskiy proposed to Ms Karina Smirnoff on New Year's Eve 2008 right before midnight. The engagement comes six months after 30-year-old Smirnoff split up with former 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant and dance partner Mario Lopez. Mr Chmerkovskiy was 28 years old at the time of the engagement.

February 2009 - Russian tennis player, Anna Kournikova recently sparked rumours that she is to marry long-term boyfriend Enrique Iglesias.
Iglesias is a Spanish pop music artist and son of Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias. The rumours began when Kournikova was seen wearing a diamond ring on her finger. The handsome couple enjoys international fame for both their physical beauty and accomplishments in their respective fields (ok, Anna, not so much for the latter). The couple have been dating for seven years after meeting on the set of Iglesias's 'Escape' music video. "Everyone is talking about Anna getting engaged. She is wearing a gorgeous ring on her left ring finger," a source told Star magazine. "Anna is being really coy about the rumours. She isn't denying anything, and she has a big smile on her face." Iglesias claimed last year that the tennis ace had refused to marry him.

	February 2009 - John Mayer is well known as a fun loving guy and a jokester. And so he may be playing a joke on his fans using his Twitter account to suggest his upcoming wedding proposal to his girlfriend. His Twitter entry was: "Visiting the Diamond Exchange in Tustin," and "Welding an engagement ring for my girlfriend." The popular couple have had an on again off again romantic
relationship in the past few years. Mayer have a date in mind as he does or doesn't plan to propose to Aniston: she turns 40 years old a few days before Valentine's Day.

February 2012: American actress, Scarlet Johannson, divorced actor Ryan Reynolds during 2011. Yet, in an interview in late 2011, Ms Johansson stated she has no regrets about the failed marriage. The couple was together for two years. She said, "It was the best thing I ever did. I'm a big believer in instinct. Getting married was the right thing to do because it was natural."

"It grew out of romance and love and a desire to have a future with somebody, and I was very fortunate that I married somebody who turned out to be the person I thought he would be," Ms Johansson added.
