January 2009 - [Updated from earlier entry December 2008] - Injured NFL quarterback Tom Brady proposed marriage to his girlfriend of two years, internationally known fashion model Giselle Bundchen on Christmas eve 2008. He proposed in a private plane filled with white roses and champagne. Brady asked Ms Bundchen the question with her parents in attendance. Mr Brady, who is 31-years old, proposed after their jet took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey on a flight bound for

Boston. He had to act quickly, that is a quarterback under the time pressure of a short flight. Ms Bundchen's parents are Vania and Valdir Bundchen. Exact wedding ceremony plans have not been announced. Press speculation ranges from NYC (unlikely) to Costa Rica where Ms Bundchen owns a vacation home (makes much more sense). Update: December 29, 2008 - The Boston Herald reported that the couple strolled down Bean Town's Beacon Street on Friday, Dec 26, 2008 - and that Bündchen was without an engagement ring. Update: January 24, 2009: Giselle says they are not engaged.

January 2009 - Chicago native American actor Vince Vaughn may be ready to get down on one knee asked for his girlfriend's hand in marriage. Mr Vaughn, who has established himself as one of Hollywood's most bankable comedic actors in big screen movies, has been dating a Canadian realtor named Kyla Weber. An entertainment magazine reports he has purchased an engagement r|ing. It would be Mr Vaughn's first marriage. It would go a long way to remove him from his romantic connection to

American actress Jennifer Aniston, with whom he had been romantically linked in the past. Update: January 24, 2009: This engagement did not happen.

January 2009 - Two popular dancers from the American television series, "Dancing with the Stars" have become engaged to be married. Mr Maksim Chmerkovskiy proposed to Ms Karina Smirnoff on New Year's Eve 2008 right before midnight. The engagement comes six months after 30-year-old Smirnoff split up with former 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant and dance partner Mario Lopez. Mr Chmerkovskiy was 28 years old at the time of the engagement.

February 2012: American actress, Scarlet Johannson, divorced actor Ryan Reynolds during 2011. Yet, in an interview in late 2011, Ms Johansson stated she has no regrets about the failed marriage. The couple was together for two years. She said, "It was the best thing I ever did. I'm a big believer in instinct. Getting married was the right thing to do because it was natural."

"It grew out of romance and love and a desire to have a future with somebody, and I was very fortunate that I married somebody who turned out to be the person I thought he would be," Ms Johansson added.
