Is it OK if the First Dance at your Wedding is a fast dance song or one that really rocks out? Would that offend anyone?

It is your wedding and so the ceremony and the reception should be a good reflection on your lifestyle. The wedding day is the day for you to present yourselves as a newly married couple to your 'society' -- to your friends and to your family.

So the right answer to the "Can it be a fast dance song?" question lies really in, "How do you want to present your married life to your friends and family."

If there are members of your family who, for better or for worse, hold their traditions for a slow first dance song close and dear, then perhaps you can compromise for the sake of blending in nicely with your past and your future.

You can hire a professional DJ to create a First Dance song that starts out slow for a minute or a minute and a half, then roll nicely into a faster song that lets you show off your rocking selves with a fast song that gets the party started!

There's nothing wrong with appeasing traditions of the family on some issues surrounding the planning of a wedding. Chances are, if there is a sticky family issue over the tempo of the First Dance song, then there are other larger issues within the family units as well. Be patient and stay detached from the issues. Make a list of the contentious subjects and figure out how to compromise against your own desires for half of them. Smile and move along, as time goes on, you'll never remember the issues you gave up for family peace and harmony.

Breaking Wedding News!
brady with giselle bundchen January 2009 - [Updated from earlier entry December 2008] - Injured NFL quarterback Tom Brady proposed marriage to his girlfriend of two years, internationally known fashion model Giselle Bundchen on Christmas eve 2008. He proposed in a private plane filled with white roses and champagne. Brady asked Ms Bundchen the question with her parents in attendance. Mr Brady, who is 31-years old, proposed after their jet took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey on a flight bound for Boston. He had to act quickly, that is a quarterback under the time pressure of a short flight. Ms Bundchen's parents are Vania and Valdir Bundchen. Exact wedding ceremony plans have not been announced. Press speculation ranges from NYC (unlikely) to Costa Rica where Ms Bundchen owns a vacation home (makes much more sense). Updated: This story may be a rumor, stay tuned.
